The NWP Teacher Inquiry Communities Network hosted an Authors and Issues Online Conference featuring authors Jeffrey D. Wilhelm and Tanya N. Baker. This event, March 13-28, 2003, focused on teacher research, with added attention to issues of reading.

Featured Authors
Jeffrey D. Wilhelm was a middle school reading teacher and a high school English teacher for thirteen years. He is currently an associate professor of English education at the Boise State University and formerly director of the University of Maine Writing Project. He is the author and co-author of many books on teaching and reading, including Action Strategies for Deepening Comprehension and Reading Don't Fix No Chevys.

Tanya N. Baker is a director of the University of Maine Writing Project, and together with Jeffrey D. Wilhelm and Julie Dube, wrote Strategic Reading. She taught high school English for eight years and recently completed her master's degree at the University of Maine.
