Teachers Teaching Teachers Webcast

The Digital Writing Workshop

September 30, 2009

You are invited to listen and interact with teachers across the globe during a series of special Teachers Teaching Teachers webcasts, titled "The Digital Writing Workshop," sponsored by the NWP Technology Initiative.

Join author Troy Hicks as he discusses his new book, The Digital Writing Workshop. On this interactive show, Hicks will invite teachers who shared examples in the book to discuss digital writing tools they use in the classroom and suggest ways to keep focused on writing workshop pedagogy in the process of using those tools.

Hicks, assistant professor of English at Central Michigan University and director of the Chippewa River Writing Project, will talk about using new technologies to enhance the teaching of writing by smartly incorporating wikis, blogs, and other forms of multimedia.

As Hicks writes in his book, "Writing is, quite simply, about more than putting words on paper (or screen), but about the many ways in which language, culture, and technology interact."

How to Participate

The shows will take place on the Teachers Teaching Teachers webpage on three consecutive Wednesdays, September 30, October 7, and October 14, 9–10 p.m. EST / 6–7 p.m. PST.
