2004 Professional Writing Retreat A
Writing Your Draft
June 17–20, 2004
The Inn at Sunrise Springs
Santa Fe, New Mexico
We are no longer accepting applications for the 2004 NWP Professional Writing Retreats. Please apply next year. This retreat is designed for writers who have a clear idea of what they will write about and who are ready to spend sustained time to do so. On-site writing coaches and editors provide support for writers. Through participation in small writing groups and other opportunities to share writing, participants become part of a community of writers. The structure of the retreat is designed to accommodate writers at all levels of development.
Retreat activities include:* long stretches of time to write * response from writing group members * one-on-one conferencing with editors * a workshop on professional writing * publication of an anthology of "intermediate" drafts. Retreat A is limited to 20 participants. For details about Writing Retreat B, click here. Participation in the retreats is by application only. The pool of participants chosen will be as representative as possible of the geographic, racial, and ethnic diversity of the writing project. It will include teacher-consultants and site leaders—kindergarten through university—with a range of writing interests, experience, and content-area knowledge.
