Rhode Island Writing Project
Susan Vander Does has served on the executive board of the Rhode Island Writing Project since 1992 and as a co-director since 2000. She has facilitated the invitational institute, the advanced institute, the Young Writers' Program, an embedded institute, the Literacy Leadership Institute, the Presenters' Collaborative Network, and many inservice and local and national conference presentations. She began her career 25 years ago teaching English as a second language to kindergarten-age grades. She is currently a teacher-consultant in reading at Saylesville elementary School in Lincoln, Rhode Island, and a doctoral candidate in the joint program at Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island. She is preparing to research teachers' observations of students' reading comprehension.
