Book Review: Teaching Stories, by Judy Logan

By: Nancy Letts
Publication: The Quarterly, Vol. 16, No. 4
Date: Fall 1994

Summary: Nancy Letts reviews Teaching Stories by Judy Logan, in which the author, a teacher in the San Francisco public schools for twenty-five years, shares a lifetime of experience. Each of her stories about her teaching and learning experiences—from a narrative about having children write about tooth fairies to a description of creating a ritual to mark a student's passing into womanhood—could stand alone as a parable for teaching in our times.
