Directors, have you been thinking about attending the National Writing Project Directors Retreat this year but haven’t yet applied? Life just got easier! The application to attend this year’s retreat is now online.

The retreat, set for August 11–15, 2004, will be held at the Granlibakken Resort and Conference Center near Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City, California. Through this annual event, directors and co-directors have an opportunity to meet with colleagues from throughout the network, discussing issues and sharing strategies for the leadership of writing project sites.

Topics range from the nuts and bolts of budgets and the management of programs to larger issues of planning and development, for example: Where does NWP fit into current education reform movements? How can we adapt to change and continue to enact the NWP model?

Participants arrange transportation through their sites and NWP pays for double-occupancy lodging, breakfast, lunch, and evening group meals. Due to the popularity of the event and space limitations, you will want to apply for the retreat as soon as possible. The deadline for application is March 26, 2004.
