Summary: This fall's NWP Authors and Issues Conference—an online discussion about writing instruction and the writing life—will run October 8 to 20 and features Ralph Fletcher, well-known children's book author.

Last year more than 150 NWP teacher-consultants joined noted author Donald Murray for online discussions and reflections about writing instruction and the writing life. This fall's NWP Authors and Issues Conference features Ralph Fletcher, well-known children's book author, consultant on writing craft, and popular presenter at NWP sites across the country. Murray calls Fletcher “a master teacher who combines delight and affection for children with a teacher's discipline.” Fletcher says it is “an honor to follow my friend Don Murray in anything!”

The online conference, which runs October 8–20, 2000, will include presentations by Fletcher, question and answer sessions, and conversations on topics and issues related to the teaching of writing. Participants will have the opportunity to log on day or night and join the discussions. Registration is open now at the NWP Web site at http://nwp.berkeley.edu. The audience will be limited to the first 300 participants, so sign up early to reserve your place.
