Excerpt from Show

When I started asking, 'So what was the point of doing this work, or what drew you to it?,' she [Prairie Lands Writing Project Director Jane Frick] said it's really an amazing continuity activity for her teacher-consultants. . . .

Not only did they get to talk about great writing, they got to see student writing from all over the country. And they got to really think about, 'How does writing here—the very micro level for a teacher—how does the writing my students produce fare in this sea of writing from across the country? And also at a more macro level, what does Missouri student writing seem to look like compared to what we're seeing in this box of writing from all around the country?'
