Five Idaho students have received prestigious awards for their exceptional artwork and writing through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the 89-year-old national program that recognizes outstanding creative teenagers and offers scholarship opportunities for graduating high school seniors.

Idaho's award program is sponsored and facilitated by the Boise State Writing Project, a network of teachers committed to promoting literacy instruction in all grade levels and content areas. . . .

"We are proud of the students who won national awards as well as the more than 200 other Idaho students who submitted art and writing to this year's competition," said Jessica Westhoff, teacher and co-director of the Boise State Writing Project. "The ability to effectively express oneself is essential for personal and professional success, and the Boise State Writing Project is pleased to sponsor a program that promotes this goal."
