Bob Fecho, director of the Red Clay Writing Project, discusses "transactional" teaching:

...where things occur that cause mutual shaping, that change you because you're part of it and that they are not very predictable as to what's going to happen in that shaping and changing; a lot of that shaping and changing is based upon your experience. So when we talk about transactions, they're happening always in your classroom—you can't stop them from happening. So what I suggest is teachers should do is to try and take advantage of the fact that they're going on there.
