Excerpt from Show

Meenoo Rami, author of the new book, Thrive: Five Ways to (Re)Invigorate Your Teaching, on her idea of a "comprehensive package" of mentoring:

You can't thrive unless you do collect a team of mentors around you...I describe this in a couple of ways in the opening chapter of my book. I describe people who force me to reexamine my current practice with new eyes: people who challenge me to try new work; people who help me connect with larger communities; people who help me with my writing life; people who push me to share my work with a wider audience. I have these specific people or groups of people who, whether they chose to be my mentors or not, I just keep coming back to them. And I keep asking for questions, for help, for support."
