Beth Rimer on the usefulness of formative assessment:
There's lots of ways that teachers have mapped out their teaching, but the formative assessment, or looking at student work, is like that compass that's always true: it doesn't get you lost, or take you down a dead-end road. Student work doesn't lie, so like a compass, it keeps showing you that true north."
