Summer Camp Focuses on Developing Young Writers

There are lots of different types of camps that are offered for children during the summer. Some focus on basketball. Others concentrate on swimming and other types of outdoor activities. At the North Elementary School this week, the camp was focusing on writing.

The Buzzards Bay Writing Project aims to develop independent writing skills, to get children interested in writing and to get children to see themselves as writers.

'The writing camp helps kids grow in an area that they are going to need for the rest of their lives, writing and writing well to convey a message,' Susan Carvalho, one of the teachers who was running the program, said."
