Excerpt from Show

Cindy O'Donnell-Allen—professor of English, director of Colorado State University Writing Project—on the Pose, Wobble, and Flow framework:

Yoga is a good metaphor for the struggles you might have as a teacher. Think about Pose, Wobble, and Flow in the framework of yoga. If you're trying it for the first time, if it's a really demanding pose, then you're absolutely going to wobble in that pose until you develop some strength in your muscles. But the same thing is also true if you're holding a familiar pose. If you persist in that pose for a longer time than you're used to, you're also going to wobble. In terms of teaching, posing is an intentional stance you take to guide your practice. For example, to be a good teacher writer, you also have to be a writer yourself."
