Come celebrate the 30th anniversary of the National Writing Project and Bay Area Writing Project at the NWP Annual Meeting in San Francisco this fall. Join hundreds of teacher-leaders from writing project sites across the country November 20-22, 2003, for what is sure to be NWP's biggest and most memorable meeting yet.

Make plans now to visit the San Francisco Bay Area, the birthplace of the writing project, for this exciting event. As always, the annual meeting is one of the best opportunities to connect with the NWP's nationwide professional learning community of teachers who care deeply about the teaching of writing.

Premeeting workshops on Thursday, November 20, will give participants a chance to interact in in-depth discussions of the core work of writing project sites including the invitational summer institute, continuity programs, inservice programs, school partnerships, teacher research, and more. A separate strand of Thursday workshops will be available for technology liaisons from each site. Thursday sessions will require online registration.

Friday, November 21, is the main event, beginning with an extended general session honoring the project's long and rich history and looking ahead to the next 30 years. Participants will then choose from three rounds of workshops, roundtable discussions, and demonstrations that afternoon. The day's events will end with a special reception that evening, giving participants a chance to relax and socialize with writing project colleagues from across the network.
